ndtype : dtype

The dtype to convert.

Returns:
result : dtype

>>> dtype = np.dtype({'names':['foo', 'bar'],
...                   'formats':[np.float32, np.int64]})
>>> dtype
dtype([('foo', '<f4'), ('bar', '<i8')])
>>> ma.make_mask_descr(dtype)
